This Week in Monster Energy Supercross: Race 6 in San Diego, CA

450SX Class

  • Climbing the Ladder: Ken Roczen’s ascension in the standings continued with his first win of the season, moving from sixth to second in points the past three races.
  • Long Overdue: The win was Roczen’s first since the third race of the 2015 season, 18 races ago. He missed the final eight races last season with injury.
  • Still Rolling: Despite his worst start of the season, Ryan Dungey’s podium streak continued and now sits at 21 races. He’s also finished first or second for 16 straight races.
  • Abrupt Ending: After leading 93% of the laps during his three-race winning streak, Dungey did not lead a single lap in Glendale.
  • Maximum Efficiency: By transferring to the Main Event from every Heat Race they’ve contested, Chad Reed, Cole Seely and Eli Tomac have run the least amount of race laps this season.
  • Heavy Parity: Seven different riders have finished on the podium this season, each of the top seven riders in the championship.
  • Battle Tested: After five races Jake Weimer has the same average start and average finish, resulting in an even start/finish ratio.
  • Shooting for the Sweep: Dungey has the chance to sweep both races in San Diego this season. He stopped Jason Anderson from doing so in Anaheim three races ago.

    250SX Class

    • Rare Occasion: Joey Savatgy and Cooper Webb will both carry red number plates in San Diego as championship co-leaders, a rare occurrence.
    • Second Generation: Christian Craig became a second-generation Main Event winner. His father, Mike, earned two-career Monster Energy Supercross wins.
    • Making it Count: Thanks to his class-leading starting average, Craig has been able to lead the most laps this season and has been the best-finishing rider the past three races.
    • Strange Territory: Since capturing his first career win in Phoenix last season, this is the longest Cooper Webb has gone without claiming victory – two races.
    • Doing Work: Colt Nichols has fought his way past a total of 18 riders through five races and is the only rider in the class that hasn’t finished lower than where he started in a Main Event. He’s improving an average of 3.6 positions a race.
    • More Parity: Like the 450SX Class, the Western Regional 250SX Class has welcomed seven different podium finishers through five races.
