This Week in Monster Energy Supercross: Race 7 in Arlington, TX

Texas SX_021916

450SX Class

  • Career Best: With four wins through six races, Ryan Dungey is off to the best start of his career. It’s the best start for any rider since Chad Reed in 2008.
  • Applying Pressure: With four consecutive podium finishes, including one win, Ken Roczen continues to apply pressure on Dungey and is now the second-leading rider in virtually all statistical categories.
  • He’ll Have Another: Dungey’s podium streak has now reached 22 races. His streak of top-two finishes now sits at 17 races.
  • Logging Laps: Dungey’s laps led total of 76 is 32 laps more than the combined total of the other five riders that have led a lap in 2016.
  • Minimize the Work Load: With an average start of 3.1 and an average finish of 1.3, Dungey has positioned himself in a podium spot off the start in nearly every Main Event this season, resulting in a start/finish ratio of 1.8.
  • Getting to the Line: After starting with four different holeshot award winners through the first four races, there have been repeat recipients the last two weekends.
  • Mirror Images: In three different races this season Ryan Dungey and Davi Millsaps have emerged as the Heat Race winners. Dungey has won all but one of his Heat Races.
  • RSVP for the Main Event: Chad Reed, Cole Seely and Eli Tomac are the only three riders to transfer directly into the Main Event from the Heat Race at every race.

    250SX Class

    • Seizing the Moment: Joey Savatgy has won two of the last three Main Events and has stayed atop the championship standings since taking the red number plate with his first career win in Oakland.
    • Shut Out: Cooper Webb is in the midst of his longest winless streak since earning his first career win last season, three races, and has also been shut out from leading a single lap the last two races after leading a total of 24 in the first four races.
    • Fighting Back: Since his career-worst 21st-place finish in Oakland, Webb has valiantly fought his way back to get his start/finish ratio to an even zero, thanks to an improved starting average of 4.6.
    • Podium Streaking: Christian Craig extended his class-leading podium streak to four races with a third-place finish.
    • Assertive Foursome: The only four riders to win a Heat Race this season are Craig, Zach Osborne, Savatgy and Webb. Three of these riders have won a Main Event, while just two have been the fastest qualifier.
