Honda UK has issued a safety recall affecting the Honda CBR600RR 2024–2026 models due to potential oil consumption concerns. More than 1,000 motorcycles in the UK are reported to be impacted.
The issue has been linked to a possible irregularity in the cylinder bore finish during production, which may lead to increased oil usage under certain conditions.

Cause of the Issue
According to an official statement, the problem may originate from the machining process.
“In some limited cases the surface finish of the cylinder bore could have a rough surface finish that may result in excessive oil consumption,” a company spokesperson said.
The investigation suggests that this condition could allow oil to enter the combustion chamber, potentially affecting engine performance over time.
Recall Process and Next Steps
Owners of affected Honda CBR600RR 2024–2026 motorcycles are being contacted directly and asked to visit authorized dealers for inspection. The procedure is expected to take approximately one hour.
At this stage, the recall focuses on checking the condition of the motorcycle rather than implementing a permanent fix.
“This is a precautionary measure at this stage to ensure the safe, continued use of the motorcycle,” the statement noted. “We are currently working on a permanent solution and will be updating customers in due course.”
Until a final solution is introduced, dealers will provide oil top-ups free of charge if required.
Market Impact
Despite the recall, sales of the affected models continue. Customers are informed about the situation prior to purchase and asked to acknowledge it.
The recall highlights ongoing quality control efforts and the importance of early detection in maintaining performance standards in the supersport segment.
