Kawasaki has officially introduced the new 2026 KX85 and KX112, revealing a comprehensively updated generation of its junior motocross machines. Developed with a clean-sheet approach, the latest KX85 and KX112 receive extensive chassis, suspension, braking, and ergonomics upgrades designed to keep them firmly at the front of competitive youth motocross racing.
While the proven two-stroke engines remain at the heart of both models, Kawasaki engineers focused heavily on enhancing overall control, stability, and rider confidence. Updates apply to the standard and big-wheel versions of the KX85, as well as the larger-displacement KX112, creating a new top-tier specification aimed squarely at podium performance.

One of the most significant changes for 2026 is found at the front suspension. The new models are equipped with a larger front fork featuring low-friction Kashima coating and increased rigidity. The fork now uses 43 mm inner tubes and, for the first time, includes rebound damping adjustment in addition to the existing compression adjustment. This allows riders and teams to fine-tune suspension settings with greater precision across a wider range of track conditions.
Braking performance has also been significantly improved. At the front, a larger 240 mm brake disc is paired with the same caliper and master cylinder used on the KX250, delivering stronger stopping power, improved durability, and enhanced modulation. At the rear, a larger 220 mm disc and reduced pedal play contribute to more consistent and precise braking control. New Dunlop Geomax MX34 tires further improve traction, braking grip, and cornering performance while providing better front-end feel.
Suspension development continues at the rear with a newly designed shock offering full adjustability. The shock rod diameter has been increased from 12.5 mm to 14 mm, and cylinder length extended from 380 mm to 390 mm, resulting in firmer damping characteristics and increased resistance to bottoming. On the KX112 and KX85 big-wheel version, a revised linkage delivers 305 mm of rear wheel travel, matching figures seen on Kawasaki’s full-size KX motocross models.
The perimeter frame, already well regarded for its balance and feel, has been further refined for 2026. The steering head pipe length has been extended by 25 mm, increasing front-end rigidity and overall stability. Additional weight savings come from aluminum components including the handlebars, steering stem, and rear sprocket, all lighter than before.
Rider ergonomics have been expanded through an updated upper triple clamp featuring dual handlebar mounting positions and reversible mounts. This allows four handlebar positions: standard, 10 mm forward, 10 mm back, and 20 mm back. Combined with two handlebar height options using collars, riders have multiple ERGO-FIT configurations available, enabling a more personalized riding position.
Styling and rider interface updates reinforce the factory racing look. A new aggressive front fender, updated number plate, and redesigned fork shrouds give the bikes a sharper appearance. ODI Lock-On grips are mounted to new Renthal fat bars, while wider and flatter footpegs now measure 48 mm instead of 40 mm and feature more teeth for improved grip. Black wheel rims and green-finished suspension adjusters complete the race-ready aesthetic, visually aligning the KX85 and KX112 with Kawasaki’s larger competition machines.
With comprehensive updates across performance, control, and design, the 2026 Kawasaki KX85 and KX112 arrive redefined and fully prepared for competition, reinforcing their position as podium-focused machines built to win.
