KTM has announced a proactive global recall affecting several 2025 and 2026 model year motorcycles in its 390 range. The recall applies to all markets and involves the replacement of the side stand spring as part of a safety-focused measure aimed at maintaining rider protection and product quality.
According to KTM, owners of affected motorcycles are requested to visit an authorized KTM dealer to have the side stand spring replaced. The recall covers the following models:
- KTM 390 Adventure R (model years 2025–2026)
- KTM 390 Adventure X (model years 2025–2026)
- KTM 390 Enduro R (model years 2025–2026)
- KTM 390 SMC R (model years 2025–2026)
KTM reports that internal quality inspections identified a potential issue in which engine vibrations could cause the side stand spring to break. The issue is limited exclusively to motorcycles equipped with forged side stands and does not affect other side stand designs. While only a small number of cases have been recorded, the manufacturer has decided to act immediately to eliminate any possible risk and uphold its safety and performance standards.
As part of the recall procedure, authorized KTM dealers will replace the side stand spring and install an additional rubber protection component. To ensure riders can safely reach their dealer prior to the repair, KTM recommends temporarily securing the side stand with a rubber band or a similar solution.
In addition, KTM has confirmed that certain motorcycles will also receive a new side stand sensor retaining plate during the service visit. This component modifies the trigger range of the side stand switch. Dealers will inform customers directly if their specific motorcycle requires this additional update.
Owners of affected models will be notified by letter and are encouraged to contact an authorized KTM dealer to schedule an appointment. All recall-related work will be carried out free of charge and exclusively through KTM’s official dealer network. Customers can verify whether their motorcycle is affected and find a complete list of authorized dealers via the Service section of the official KTM website.
With this recall, KTM reinforces its commitment to quality, rider safety, and long-term customer confidence. By addressing the issue proactively, the company aims to ensure that its motorcycles continue to meet the highest expectations for reliability, performance, and dependability.
