KTM 390 Models Recall for ECU Software Update

KTM has issued a global recall covering several models in its KTM 390 lineup as part of an immediate software update aimed at maintaining rider safety, performance consistency, and long-term reliability. The recall is valid for all markets and affects selected 2024 to 2026 model year motorcycles.

The recall applies to the following models:

KTM 390 Duke (model years 2024–2026)
KTM 390 Enduro R (model years 2025–2026)
KTM 390 SMC R (model years 2025–2026)
KTM 390 Adventure R (model years 2025–2026)
KTM 390 Adventure X (model years 2025–2026)

According to KTM, extensive quality testing identified a condition that could, in rare cases, lead to engine stalling at low engine speeds. While the number of reported cases remains limited, the manufacturer has chosen to take proactive measures to eliminate any potential safety concerns and uphold its engineering standards.

To address the issue, KTM will implement an update to the engine control unit software on all affected motorcycles. The updated ECU calibration significantly reduces the likelihood of engine stalling, particularly during low-speed operation or deceleration. In addition, the software update improves overall rideability by enhancing low-end torque delivery and increasing engine stability.

Owners of affected motorcycles will be notified directly by letter and are advised to contact an authorized KTM dealer to schedule the update. The software update will be carried out free of charge and exclusively through KTM’s authorized dealer network. Riders can verify whether their motorcycle is affected and find a complete list of authorized dealers in the Service section of the official KTM website.

This recall action highlights KTM’s ongoing commitment to product quality, rider safety, and customer trust. By responding quickly and decisively, KTM aims to ensure that every motorcycle in its lineup continues to deliver the performance, reliability, and confidence riders expect from the brand.
