The Ducati Lenovo Team delivered a strong performance at the TT Circuit Assen, securing victory in the Sprint Race during the Grand Prix of the Netherlands. Marc Márquez claimed his ninth win of the season with a dominant ride, while teammate Francesco Bagnaia crossed the finish line in fifth place.
Starting from fourth on the grid, Márquez launched off the line with precision, quickly moving into second position by the first corner. By the end of the opening lap, he had taken the lead and controlled the race from the front. Despite constant pressure from his brother Alex Márquez, Marc defended his position flawlessly, showcasing his racecraft and tactical awareness.
Bagnaia, who started from the front row, struggled to maintain his early pace as the race progressed. Ultimately, the reigning World Champion finished fifth, just 1.4 seconds away from the podium positions.
The Ducati Lenovo Team is now preparing for Sunday’s main race at Assen, with the morning warm-up session scheduled for 9:40 AM local time (GMT+2). The tenth Grand Prix of the season will follow at 14:00, consisting of 26 laps around the historic Dutch circuit.
Marc Márquez (#93 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 1st Place
“My goal from the beginning was to get a strong start, push, take the lead, and then defend it, as I wasn’t the fastest rider out there today. I was riding well, my level was acceptable, but physically I wasn’t in top shape to attack, and the overall feeling wasn’t perfect. That said, I still managed to secure another win. I knew Alex was right behind me — I could hear his engine in turns 11 and 12 — but I focused on defending my position under braking. Tomorrow, I’ll need to lose less ground in the sectors that are less favourable for me.”
Márquez’s victory adds valuable points to the championship standings as Ducati continues to assert its dominance in the 2024 MotoGP season.
