Borgo Panigale, Bologna — May 15, 2025 — Ducati has officially started production of the Desmo450 MX, its very first motocross bike, marking a bold move into off-road territory. The launch comes shortly after Jeremy Seewer secured a second-place finish at the French Grand Prix, making history with this brand-new bike.
Motorcross legends Tony Cairoli and Alessandro Lupino were present at the production line launch. Lupino won a national title with the Desmo450 MX on its race debut, while Cairoli offered expert guidance during the bike’s development.
Designed for both professional racers and amateurs, the Desmo450 MX focuses on being powerful, lightweight, and easy to handle. Its Desmodromic engine, advanced electronics, and optimized chassis help riders feel more in control while pushing their limits with less physical strain.
This new model is just the beginning. Ducati plans to expand into a full line of off-road motorcycles, aiming to attract a broader audience and grow the global Ducati community.

According to Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali, the Desmo450 MX reflects the company’s DNA: “We combined the racing spirit with real-world usability, creating a high-performance motocross bike that’s fun and accessible.”
At the heart of the Desmo450 MX is a 449.6 cc single-cylinder engine with Desmodromic timing. It delivers strong torque at low and mid-range speeds, allowing riders to maximize gear usage from starts to tight turns. Its lightweight aluminum frame minimizes welds to enhance durability and rigidity while keeping the bike light.
Ducati is also setting a new standard with its electronics. The Desmo450 MX is the first motocross bike with traction control that accurately detects wheel slip and adapts its behavior based on riding conditions to maintain performance.
For fans looking to match the pro look, the Ducati Performance catalogue offers race-level upgrades like CNC-machined parts, a titanium Akrapovič slip-on exhaust, and Brembo Racing brake calipers. More accessories will be released over time.
To complete the factory style, Ducati has also partnered with Drudi Performance to offer a full range of off-road gear including apparel from Alpinestars, Arai helmets, and weather-proof riding apparel.
The Desmo450 MX will hit selected European dealerships in June 2025, followed by North America in July, and global availability soon after. Fans can watch the official launch video on Ducati’s YouTube channel or access full tech specs on Ducati Media House.
