Marc Márquez (#93 Ducati Lenovo Team) celebrates victory at Misano with a flag after the finish.

The 2025 MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix delivered a thrilling spectacle at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, with Marc Márquez claiming a decisive victory for the Ducati Lenovo Team. The Spaniard not only extended his championship lead but also set a new all-time MotoGP points record for a single season.

Márquez started strong from the second row and immediately surged into contention, taking second place into the first corner. By lap 12, he moved past the competition to seize the lead. In the final laps, Márquez showcased his pace by clocking multiple fastest laps, including one on the very last lap, securing a memorable win.

Francesco Bagnaia’s race, however, ended in disappointment. Despite a solid start, the defending champion lost control at Turn 14 on lap 9 and crashed out while running in a comfortable position.

The race weekend highlighted Ducati’s dominance once again, with five Ducati riders finishing in the top six. Alex Márquez completed the podium in third place for Gresini Racing, while VR46 Racing Team’s Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio finished fourth and fifth. Rising star Fermín Aldeguer placed sixth on the Gresini Racing Desmosedici GP.

With six races remaining, Marc Márquez now leads the standings with 512 points, holding a commanding 182-point advantage over Alex Márquez. Bagnaia sits third, 275 points adrift. Ducati leads the team standings with 749 points and has already secured the Constructors’ Championship title for 2025.

Looking ahead, Márquez will arrive at the next round in Motegi with his first championship match point, potentially wrapping up the World Title in Japan.

Post-Race Reactions

Marc Márquez (#93 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 1st place
“It wasn’t easy to keep the situation under control. It was one of the fastest races of the season: Bezzecchi was pushing very hard and was really quick. We tried to manage the situation as best we could and even set the fastest lap of the race on the final lap. I’m happy because after yesterday’s mistake, we had to make amends. We’ll approach Motegi the same way: maintaining the same performance level we’ve shown in all these races. There are six events left in the season, but we want to wrap up the title race as soon as possible.”

Luigi Dall’Igna (General Manager, Ducati Corse)
“The Misano race is always a great show and gave us some incredible battles. Both Marc and Marco (Bezzecchi) were really great, and we expected the latter to be in the fight for the win after yesterday’s performance. As Ducati, we placed five bikes in the top six, so I can say our package worked really well. A pity for Pecco’s crash, but as I said before, we’ll continue to give him all the support he needs to get out of this challenging situation.”

The Ducati Lenovo Team will now prepare for the Grand Prix of Japan at the Mobility Resort Motegi, scheduled for September 26, where Márquez could mathematically secure the 2025 MotoGP World Championship.
