Motorcycle racing legend Michael Dunlop has been officially recognized with an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours List for his extraordinary contributions to motorcycle racing.
This prestigious award marks a new milestone in the career of the 33-time Isle of Man TT winner, who now holds the record for the most victories and podium finishes in the history of the event. Dunlop has not only etched his name in the annals of road racing history but has also carried forward the Dunlop legacy with unmatched determination.

Breaking Records at the Isle of Man TT
Dunlop made headlines in 2024 when he surpassed his late uncle Joey Dunlop’s long-standing record of 26 TT wins — a historic benchmark that stood for over two decades. In 2025, he further elevated his legacy by achieving the most podium finishes at the TT, overtaking John McGuinness’ 47-podium milestone.
During this year’s TT races, Dunlop also secured a landmark victory in the Supersport category aboard a Ducati Panigale V2, marking the first win for the Italian manufacturer at the event since 1995. This victory made Ducati the seventh manufacturer with which Dunlop has achieved success on the Mountain Course.
Dominance Across Classes
In addition to his Supersport triumphs, Dunlop reinforced his supremacy in the Supertwin category by winning both races on his MD Racing Paton. He set a new class lap record with an astonishing average speed of 123.056 mph on the final lap of Race 2.
Michael Dunlop’s racing career began in 2006 with a win in the 125cc class at the Bush Road Races in Northern Ireland. Since then, he has amassed an incredible 124 victories across Irish road racing circuits, including dominant performances at the 2025 Cookstown 100 and the North West 200, where he claimed five more wins this spring.
With his first Isle of Man TT win in 2009 and an unmatched ability to adapt across multiple motorcycle categories, Michael Dunlop stands as a true icon of modern road racing.
