Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has once again earned global recognition for groundbreaking design with the MOTOROiD2 concept model receiving the prestigious Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2025. This marks Yamaha’s fourth triumph in this category over the past six years, reaffirming the company’s leadership in futuristic mobility design.
The MOTOROiD2 concept represents the next evolution of Yamaha’s exploration into redefining human-machine relationships. Building upon the original MOTOROiD prototype introduced in 2017, MOTOROiD2 was envisioned as a “lifetime companion,” designed to create interactive, two-way communication between rider and machine.

Unveiled to the public in 2023, MOTOROiD2 embodies an organic and emotionally expressive design philosophy. Its semi-transparent, lifelike exterior, combined with advanced sensory technologies, offers a unique, interactive experience. The entire chassis functions as an interface, visually and physically communicating the machine’s “emotions” through light, movement, and touch.
A standout innovation is the integrated “LEAF” haptic feedback device located at the center of the chassis, enabling non-verbal interaction via tactile and visual cues. These features deepen the rider’s sensory connection to the vehicle, creating an unprecedented level of engagement not seen in traditional motorcycles.
This Red Dot Award follows Yamaha’s previous successes with concept models such as &Y01 (2017), the first-generation MOTOROiD (2018), and YNF-01 (2019). The Red Dot Design Awards, hosted by Germany’s Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, are regarded as one of the most prestigious global accolades in the design industry.
With MOTOROiD2, Yamaha continues to push the boundaries of motorcycle design, blending technology, emotion, and innovation to envision the future of personal mobility.
