Simon Laengenfelder celebrates MX2 victory on the podium at Matterley Basin, MXGP 2025
Simon Laengenfelder of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing celebrates on the podium after dominating the MX2 class with three race wins at Matterley Basin during the 2025 British Grand Prix.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing added more silverware to their 2025 MXGP campaign as Simon Laengenfelder delivered a flawless performance at the British Grand Prix, claiming victory in all three MX2 races at Matterley Basin. The German rider’s third overall win of the season extends his championship lead.

Laengenfelder showcased remarkable speed and consistency across the hardpacked, fast, and demanding Winchester-based circuit. His triumph follows Red Bull KTM’s MX2-winning streak, making it four consecutive rounds with at least one KTM rider topping the podium.

Lucas Coenen impressed in the MXGP class, finishing second overall with two consistent top-three moto results. The Belgian rookie maintains his bid for the world title and now holds second in the championship standings, 32 points behind Romain Febvre.

Jeffrey Herlings, aiming for his third consecutive Grand Prix win, settled for 5th overall after minor mistakes limited his results to 4-4 finishes. Meanwhile, Sacha Coenen secured his fifth MX2 podium of 2025 with third overall, despite taking a rock to the face during race two.

Andrea Adamo endured a challenging weekend after an early crash in moto one, fighting back to finish 10th, followed by a stronger 4th in moto two, placing 8th overall. Despite the setback, Adamo retains second in the MX2 title chase, trailing Laengenfelder by 52 points.

In the EMX125 Championship, KTM Racestore Factory Rookie Nicolo Alvisi secured 8th overall and holds joint leadership in the standings after 10 of 12 rounds. Gyan Doensen finished 9th in EMX250 aboard his Gabriel SS24 KTM and sits fourth overall.

The MXGP paddock now pauses for a brief summer break before the action resumes at the brand-new KymiRing circuit in Finland for round 13, scheduled for mid-July.
