The 2026 W230 returns with a fresh Metallic Matte Dark Green color and timeless W-series styling.

In an exciting update for classic motorcycle enthusiasts, Kawasaki has officially confirmed that the W230 and Meguro S1 will return as part of its 2026 global model lineup. The retro-inspired duo will continue to capture hearts with timeless styling and authentic riding experience, now with a refreshed look. For 2026, the W230 will feature a striking new Metallic Matte Dark Green color scheme, while the Meguro S1 retains its signature Ebony finish.

Both motorcycles share a deep connection with Kawasaki’s rich heritage. The W series, revitalized in the early 2000s by the beloved W650, finds its roots in the 1960s W1—Kawasaki’s first large-displacement motorcycle, originally based on a Meguro design after Kawasaki acquired the brand. In 2024, Meguro celebrates its 100th anniversary, maintaining its proud presence in the motorcycle market under the Kawasaki umbrella.

Engineered for simplicity and character, both the W230 and Meguro S1 are built around a robust air-cooled, single-cylinder engine housed within a compact and rider-friendly chassis. The W230 is promoted as an “original icon,” while the Meguro S1 pays homage to the classic 250cc Meguro SG model from the 1960s.

The 2026 Meguro S1 revives 1960s spirit with a sleek Ebony finish and retro design.

Power delivery is smooth and predictable, thanks to a linear torque curve that excels in low- and mid-range RPMs. Riders can expect a classic pulsating engine feel complemented by a built-in balancer, enhancing overall smoothness and ride quality. A standout feature is the engine’s vintage-inspired aesthetic, complete with sculpted cylinder head fins and refined detailing designed to evoke the spirit of retro motorcycling.

Both models feature compact proportions that provide agile, easy handling and broad accessibility. At just 143 kg, they rank among the lightest retro-styled 250cc motorcycles on the market. Their slim profiles and low seat heights make them ideal for a wide range of riders, from novices to experienced enthusiasts looking for a stylish, everyday classic.

The suspension setup includes 37mm front telescopic forks and rear twin shock absorbers, providing a balanced and composed street ride. The shocks also offer a user-friendly five-step preload adjustment. Design elements such as steel fenders, a pea-shooter-style exhaust, wire-spoked wheels, and dual analog meters reinforce their vintage appeal.

While sharing the same platform, each bike features distinct styling cues. The W230 comes with a painted fuel tank and a three-dimensional “W” badge. In contrast, the Meguro S1 boasts a chrome-finished tank with painted inserts and proudly displays the evocative Meguro “M” and inverted “M” insignia. Differences extend to the meters and seat finishes, highlighting Kawasaki’s meticulous attention to detail.

Kawasaki’s commitment to heritage is evident in these models, blending classic design with modern engineering to attract a new generation of riders. Whether it’s the W230’s iconic styling or the Meguro S1’s nostalgic allure, Kawasaki offers an authentic retro riding experience backed by decades of history.

As anticipation builds for the 2026 motorcycle season, one thing is clear—choosing between the W230 and the Meguro S1 won’t be easy. But whichever model riders select, a genuine, smile-inducing journey is guaranteed.
