Marco Bezzecchi Charges to Sixth for Aprilia in Challenging Mugello Sprint Race

Mugello, Italy – Saturday, 21 June 2025

Aprilia Racing wrapped up Saturday’s Sprint Race at the Mugello Circuit with a commendable top-six finish, as Marco Bezzecchi battled through adversity to cross the line in sixth place. Despite an early incident that damaged his RS-GP25, Bezzecchi mounted a gritty comeback in front of the passionate Italian crowd.

Starting from 10th on the grid, the Italian rider was involved in contact during the opening corners that led to the loss of the left wing and fork wing on his machine. The impact compromised the bike’s stability, particularly in heavy braking zones. Nevertheless, Bezzecchi demonstrated exceptional control and determination, advancing steadily through the field to finish sixth in a shortened and intense race.

Teammate Lorenzo Savadori, focused on development work for the RS-GP25, completed the sprint in 17th place after struggling with front tyre grip in the closing stages. Despite the result, the team remains optimistic about improvements made in setup and race data collection.

Trackhouse MotoGP’s Raúl Fernández also impressed, finishing eighth and securing a second Aprilia inside the top ten.

Marco Bezzecchi: “I’m satisfied. I rode a good sprint race and a nice, hard-earned comeback. Unfortunately, at the start of the race, two wings broke due to contact with another rider, so the bike lost a lot of performance, especially in the fast braking sections. In spite of this, I felt rather good and was able to manage the situation more or less with the used tyres, making up positions. We can’t help but to be satisfied because we have already taken some small steps forward. We’ll get there, one step at a time.”

Lorenzo Savadori: “At the start, I was in the group, but in the finale I unfortunately had a bit of trouble with the front tyre, which tended to close up on me. In any case, we took a step forward. Tyre wear must be taken into consideration for the long race and we’ll also need to see what the temperature is, because it could rain and that would wash the track off a bit and make everything cooler. So, the situation could change but, as always, we do well with the used tyres.”
